TELECOLLABORATION

 Hi everyone! 💞

Today I will mention you about the "Telecollaboration" experience we did with the University of Malaga,Spain in our IT&MD course.

First of all,I would like to thank my teachers,Tuncer CAN and Nazlı Ceren IŞIKLIGİL,who gave us this chance.

What is telecollaboration?

Telecollaboration or Online Intercultural Exchange (OIE),refers to the application of online communication tools to bring together classes of language learners in geographically distant locations with the aim to develop their foreign language skills and intercultural competence through collaborative tasks and project.

And this is actually what we did!

Me and my two Turkish friends, two of our friends from Spain, started working to develop materials jointly.

We arranged our meetings to be held on Sunday evenings and we had 5-week process. In this process,we spent the first week getting to know each other. In the 2nd week,we talked about the difficulties we experienced in language learning, about the paragraphs we wrote on the Padlet platform. In the 3rd week we talked about web 2.0 tools and thought about what tools we could use for our material design. In the 4th week,we distributed the tasks and everyone decided what to do.In the last week,we reviewed our design and found our shortcomings and mistakes, talked about the,and prepared the final draft.

What are the benefits?

  • First of all, this collaborative work benefited our future profession in many ways. For example,it made us self-confident about the language and gave us the opportunity to use the language actively.
  • It gave the ability to use technological tools more easily.
  • It gave us the opportunity to meet people from different cultures.
  • It made us a more equipped and experienced teacher candidates.
  • It gave the opportunity to learn and use many web 2.0 tools.

Now let me explain what I'm writing about; STORYBIRD.. Storybird is an app and of course it also has a site where you can log in from the desktop. On this site you can read stories written by people and of course you can become a writer yourself. There are many uploaded and artist-designed images and themes on the site. You can enrich them by finding images that fit your story. My first try was very successful and practical because it is very easy to use and not complicated at all.Every time you log in to the site and complete the activity (reading, writing, challenge),it gives you a ticket and a crown.Along with these, you can publish your stories and get feedba...
